How is Padma 28 manufactured?
The products of PADMA AG (apart from PADMA 28 also PADMA LAX) are manufactured in its own, specialized operation in Switzerland. The production conforms with the GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) standards recognized world-wide and is checked regularly by self checks and by a regional supervisory board for medicines. All raw materials, the individual production steps as well as the product ready for sale are checked using modern methods of analysis in order to guarantee a high-quality product.
Some herbs are cultivated and harvested according to biological guidelines in Switzerland. Others are harvested or collected in different areas of Europe and in India. When they are handed in, the herbs are carefully checked. Apart from the identity also smell and taste and the amount of certain contents materials are examined. The careful quality check examines all herbs for possible arrears such as pesticide, heavy metal and aflatoxine. All these measures guarantee that only desired parts of the plants in good quality are used for production.
The checked raw materials are mixed carefully and pressed into tablets. The tablets do not contain any artificial preservatives, stabilisators or coloring materials.
In order to pack the tablets hygienically and protect them from humidity at the same time, they are sealed into plastic aluminum foil. Despite intensive efforts we have not not succeeded so far in finding a more pollution-free packing system which meets our high safety and quality standards.

Why does PADMA 28 have such a strange taste?
According to Tibetan theory taste and smell represent two important aspects of a medicine. Tibetan medicine is therefore also called "taste and smell medicine". In addition to the four western tastes sweet, salty, bitter and sour the Tibetans add two more tastes: hot and sharp (or astringent). In accordance with Tibetan theory the taste of PADMA 28 is described as hot, cold, volatile and penetrating. Due to this description it has a supporting effect on the aspect "wind" of the so-called "3-Principle-Law".
Because in Tibetan medicine taste takes such an important role, PADMA 28 is consciously not adapted to western taste conceptions, in particular with medicines.
